Redux Jazz Orchestra ft. Lisa Gary

Lisa Janine Gary is a versatile New York-based vocalist, songwriter, and lyricist. Her unique approach to singing blends the styles of her many musical influences. Finding music to be boundless, Lisa uses her voice to emote songs written in various styles. She inherited her musicality, rhythm, and love for music from her family dating back to her grandfather, a Hungarian classical pianist and her Grandmother, a modern dancer. In a musical household, Lisa grew up surrounded by her father’s passion for jazz and began studying classical trumpet under his wing when she was nine. She studied Jazz Voice at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montreal and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance with the honor of Outstanding Achievement in Jazz Voice. After graduating, Lisa has continued her jazz career while exploring pop, funk, folk, r&b, and house music.

Most recently, Lisa made her debut with world-famous Postmodern Jukebox in one of their videos. As the featured singer, Lisa and PMJ covered the current pop hit “Ex’s and Oh’s” by Elle King. Together they brought the tune back in time to the 1930s, interpreting it in the vintage style of Django Reinhardt. The video garnered hundreds of thousands of views in just a week and is continuing to go viral.  Some of Lisa’s additional career highlights include performing the theme song for the Montreal Jazz Festival’s 30th edition DVD at a press release at Le Savoy Metropolis. She was a headliner for the 1st edition of La Fete De La Musique and sang live on air for Montreal’s top pop radio station, Q92.5. As a studio musician Lisa recorded vocal tracks for a CBC broadcast and recorded vocal tracks for several DJs and rap artists, two of which were released by Kult Records. She also recorded her original Vocalese on “All of Me” and “Basella” for her Jazz EP and performed on the program “All that Jazz” on the Bonnie D. Graham television show in New York. She actively writes, performs, records and possesses the perpetual desire to explore new music and projects.
