Sir Shorty

Born and raised in downtown Manhattan, Eric Shorty Meyerson's first exposure to music came from his culturally diverse neighborhood and the funky baby sitters who took care of him when he was a child. "All the different types of music that they brought over and played for me like soul, reggae, latin, rock, and even show tunes made an impact on me  that has lasted my whole life and was certainly my earliest musical inspiration".

After high school he spent two years in Miami where he hosted an alternative college radio show which helped land him his first DJ gig at the legendary Fire & Ice club in the design district. Shorty returned to NYC and after graduating from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, he co-founded the film and video production company Truth & Soul. At Truth & Soul, Shorty edited music videos for artists like Mariah Carey, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Mary J Blige, the Beastie Boys and directed the video for Original Flavor that introduced Jay Z to the Hip Hop world for the first time. Shorty also had the pleasure to serve as the wardrobe stylist and prop master on the Darren Aronofsky cult film"PI"
In addition to all his work in the  film arena, he  kept on  collecting  records and honing his DJ skills while  playing out regularly in NYC for the last fifteen years.

Since starting the music services company Sir Shorty, His Royal Shortness (H.R.S.) has  worked as a music consultant for such high-profile clients as Diane Von Furstenberg and the MGM Grand/Las Vegas. He is a well known  Manhattan nightlife fixture and  has been  a DJ  at such renowned nightspots as Moomba, Wax,Sway, Lotus, Palladium, and at private parties celebrating Michael Imperioli's Emmy win and the wrap of Julianne Moore's latest film "Trust The Man."

Shorty currently has residencies at the Hotel on Rivington, The Garden at ONO/The Gansevoort Hotel and Sugar/TriBeCa and regularly plays at Hiro, KOS and  at The 60 Thompson Hotel. He was recently featured in Kimora Lee Simmons' "Dream Wedding" segment on her television show "Life & Style".  He also writes a monthly column for the online magazine Uppers and Downers called "Below 14th Street with Sir Shorty "that reflects his feelings about the state of downtown culture in NYC and displays his personal flair for style.
